Alaska Naturals Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil Formula Dog Supplement, 8-fl oz bottle

Editor's note

A pump bottle makes daily omega-3 easy, and the guide's point about this one is the size. Oil goes rancid once opened, and an 8 ounce bottle is one you will finish before it turns. Keep it in the fridge. If it smells sharp rather than mildly of fish, throw it out. Oxidized oil is pro-inflammatory, which is precisely backwards for a sore dog.

Dose by the EPA and DHA on the label, not by pumps, and get the daily amount from your vet. The joint-disease doses are higher than the coat doses most labels suggest. If you want precision over convenience, the capsules in the same guide are the better format.

Tell the vet before surgery, since omega-3 at these doses can affect platelet function.
