Frisco Fold & Carry Double Door Collapsible Wire Dog Crate, Med/Large

Editor's note

The default wire crate in the guide, for specific reasons. Two doors decide where the crate can go in a room. A crate that has to sit in the hallway because the door faces the wrong way ends up unused. The divider is what lets you buy for the adult size and shrink the space for a puppy, which is the whole housetraining mechanism. A crate with a far corner has a corner that becomes a toilet.

Size it so the dog can stand without ducking, turn, and lie stretched on one side.

It is for housetraining, sleeping and short absences. A few hours is the working ceiling for an adult. For a nine-hour day, buy a pen instead, and if the dog panics when left, buy nothing until you know what you are containing.
