American Kennel Club AKC Anxiety Vest for Dogs, Blue, Medium

Editor's note

A pressure vest, to test on your own dog. The guide puts wraps in the same category as pheromones, a low-cost adjunct with evidence thinner than the packaging implies. Try it alongside a real plan, never instead of one.

Fit matters more than brand. It must be snug and even, not tight. And watch the dog in it. One that freezes and refuses to move is not calm, it is shut down, which is a different thing and not the goal.

Use it for short, supervised periods around known triggers. Fitted too loosely it does nothing, and left on for hours unsupervised it is a hazard. Judge it within two weeks on video against what you saw before, and if nothing changed, take it off and get on with the training.

About this product

Create a stress-free environment for your dog no matter where he is with the Calming Coat for Dogs. The Calming Coat applies gentle, constant pressure to help him feel safe and reduce anxiety during high-stress situations like traveling, vet visits, thunderstorms, loud noises, meeting new people or introducing new pets to the household. It’s also great for dogs that are generally skittish or prone to separation anxiety. The simple design features fuzzy fastener straps so you can wrap the coat around your dog’s torso quickly and easily, and you can bring it with you wherever you go with your pup. It’s safe and comfortable and provides a drug-free alternative to giving your dog pills or medicine to achieve a calming effect.
