KONG Classic Dog Toy - Small

Editor's note

The classic stuffable toy, and in this guide its job is the departure window. A food-dispensing toy given at the moment you leave does two things. It gives the dog something to do during the highest-intensity minutes, and it is diagnostic. A dog that will not touch high-value food thirty seconds after you leave is over threshold, and the training step is too big.

It is scaffolding for a plan, not a treatment. Nothing on this shelf treats a panic disorder.

This is the small size. Size it to the dog, and stuff it with something that takes work to get out. If the dog ignores it once you are gone, that is the information the guide wants you to have. The next step is a smaller absence, not a different toy.
