KONG Extreme Dog Toy, Large

Editor's note

The default for a heavy chewer, and the guide is precise about why. Firm rubber flexes under pressure and gives way before enamel does, and it fails safely by wearing rather than shattering. The black compound is not sold as indestructible. It is sold as more durable than the red, which is an honest claim and roughly true.

Stuffing changes what it is for. A dog working for forty minutes to extract frozen food is doing enrichment, not just surviving. Check any peanut butter for xylitol before it goes in.

Buy the size above the chart, every time. A toy that fits behind the canines can be crushed and swallowed. If the dog goes through this in a week, hard nylon is the next step, with the fracture risk that brings.
