KVP International Calmer E-Collar Dog Recovery Collar, X-Large: 16.5 to 20-in neck

Editor's note

Stopping the licking is the step owners underweight, according to the guide. A hot spot the dog can reach every ninety minutes will not heal, no matter how well you cleaned it. The guide calls a soft recovery collar non-negotiable for the first three to five days.

This is its pick. The listing describes a collar sized for a 16.5 to 20 inch neck, with hook-and-loop strips to adjust the fit. An opening lets the dog eat and drink while wearing it. Measure the neck before ordering.

The collar only buys time. If the patch is bigger or wetter on day two, or larger than a credit card, the dog needs a vet and likely oral antibiotics. A hot spot that keeps coming back has a trigger, and fleas are the most common one.
