Andis Easy Clip Ultra Dog Grooming Clippers, Blue

Editor's note

Clipping the hair back is step one of the guide's hot spot protocol. The coat traps moisture and holds bacteria against the skin, so you clip a margin around the lesion until healthy skin shows at every edge. The guide specifies a #10 blade and a two-centimeter margin, and never scissors near a raw wound.

The listing describes a light rotary clipper with four comb attachments, meant for light trims on thin to medium coats rather than extensive cuts. That suits clearing a patch, not a full clip of a heavy double coat.

A dog that will not tolerate clipping the site is telling you the lesion is painful enough for a vet visit, possibly with sedation.
