furrybaby Grey Trellis Cooling Dog & Cat Crate Mat, Large

Editor's note

The cat heat guide picks this mat because it needs zero setup, with nothing to freeze or fill. A cat learns within a day that the mat is the cool place, and cats accept what they control.

The listing describes a nylon fiber surface that feels cool on contact and changes color as it works. A rubber dot backing grips tile or wood, and the mat can go in the washing machine. Measure the spot first, as the listing advises.

A mat is prevention, not treatment. A cat that is panting is already in trouble. Cool it with room-temperature water and airflow rather than ice, and head to a vet if it has not improved within twenty minutes.
