K&H Pet Products Thermo-Kitty Fashion Splash Indoor Heated Cat Bed, Medium, Mocha

Editor's note

The same heating element as the flat mat in the guide, with sides. That is the whole difference, and it is worth paying for only if your cat settles into things with walls. A cat that already sleeps in a box or a nest will use it. One that stretches out flat is better served by the mat.

It is a powered bed. That means it works for the thin or elderly cat that is not making much heat of its own, the one a self-warming bed would leave cold.

The sides make it harder to lie half off, so buy a size the cat can hang out of rather than one that fits exactly. Warm to the hand, never hot, and part the fur over the contact areas now and then to look for slow burns.
