KONG Active Feather Teaser Cat Toy, Color Varies

Editor's note

The one product in this category worth learning to use well. A wand with a person on the other end is the only genuinely interactive toy in the aisle, because it can be moved like prey. That is the whole trick. Move it away from the cat, let it vanish behind a chair leg, use short erratic darts with pauses, and let the cat win several times a session.

Feathers and a crinkle sound are a good first texture, and the listing adds catnip. Roughly a third of cats do not respond to catnip, so do not build anything on it.

Keep sessions short and frequent. Put the wand away afterwards. Left out, it becomes furniture and a string risk, and a swallowed length of string is among the more serious things a cat can swallow.
