Purina Pro Plan Focus Adult 11+ Classic Chicken & Beef Entree Canned Cat Food, 3-oz can, case of 4

Editor's note

Wet food is the guide's default for an old cat, and this is the conservative version of it. It carries moisture, which suits a cat with a reduced thirst drive or any degree of kidney compromise. It is easier on a sore mouth, and easier to smell for a cat whose nose has faded. Purina is one of the large manufacturers with feeding trials and in-house nutritionists, which the guide treats as the right instinct when the animal is old.

Senior is not a regulated life stage. The 11+ on the can tells you nothing on its own, so read the panel and the AAFCO statement on the back, not the front.

If the cat is a healthy weight, eating well, with normal bloodwork, change nothing. Age alone is not a reason.
