Woobamboo Large Breed Dog Toothbrush

Editor's note

Larger dogs need a larger brush head and a handle long enough to reach the back teeth comfortably, and this is the guide's pick for them. The listing describes a bamboo handle with a hump for grip, and bristles that can be removed when worn.

Brush daily if you can. Plaque hardens into tartar within roughly two to three days, so weekly brushing mostly polishes tartar. Focus on the outer surfaces of the big cheek teeth and canines, with the mouth closed and a lip lifted.

Start with a finger if the dog has never been brushed, and build up over two weeks. No brush fixes an older dog's established gum disease, which needs a dental under anesthesia.
