Fresh Kitty Triangles Foam Cat Litter Mat, Black, Jumbo

Editor's note

A mat catches what comes out on the paws, and the guide's description of it is the difference between scooping and sweeping. Tracking is the part of a multi-cat setup nobody budgets for, and a mat under each box is cheaper than the hallway carpet.

The listing gives a ribbed foam surface with a waterproof back, in a jumbo size to suit a jumbo pan. Wipe it down when you scoop.

It does nothing about the things that actually decide whether the setup works. That is the number of boxes, where they are, and whether every one of them is scooped daily. Buy the mats after the pans, not instead of them.
